Job Description

The opportunity

Guyana is in the middle of one of the fastest economic transformations anywhere in the world. In less than a decade, a country of under a million people has become one of the fastest-growing economies on earth, and it is now building, at speed, the homes, infrastructure, businesses and financial markets that will shape it for the next fifty years. Moments like this come once in a generation.

Rise Guyana exists to meet that moment. We are building Guyana’s first private institutional investment

platform: private equity funds and a management company that bring international capital, governance and reporting standards to Guyanese real estate and operating businesses, and that partner with local owners to build companies that last. We are looking for the finance leader who will build the financial backbone of that platform, and whose work will set the standard others in the market follow.

The role

The Head of Finance and Operations owns finance on the ground across the whole Rise Guyana group: the

management company, the funds and their holding vehicles, and our portfolio companies. You will run portfolio company accounting, act as our lead counterpart to the third parties who administer and audit the funds, and own tax and legal compliance for every Rise Guyana entity across multiple jurisdictions.

This is a build, not a maintain. You will start as the finance function, put in place the systems, controls and

calendar the platform runs on, and grow a team behind you as the portfolio expands.

What you will own

1. Portfolio company accounting and reporting

• Own the books and records of portfolio companies directly where they are small, and oversee and direct

their finance teams where they are larger.

• Deliver timely monthly management accounts, IFRS financial statements and consolidated reporting

across the group.

• Run budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning and project cost control, including for real estate and

construction projects.

• Put in place finance policies, internal controls and approval frameworks at each company, and standardize reporting to the fund.

• Lead finance workstreams on new investments: due diligence support, closing mechanics and post-

acquisition onboarding.

2. Fund accounting and administration oversight

• Act as the management company’s primary counterpart to the funds’ third-party administrator, auditors,

advisers and bankers.

• Review and challenge NAV calculations, fund financial statements, capital account statements and fee

calculations before they are released.

• Coordinate capital calls and distributions, and supply the portfolio data behind valuations and investor

reporting.

• Manage the annual audit timetable across the funds, the management company and the portfolio, so that audits close on time and without surprises.

• Support investor relations with accurate, timely financial information for quarterly reports, annual

meetings and investor due diligence requests.

3. Tax and legal compliance across all Rise Guyana entities

• Own tax and statutory compliance for every entity in the group, in Guyana, Suriname, St. Vincent and the

Grenadines, the British Virgin Islands, and the other jurisdictions where our funds, holding companies and

portfolio companies are established.

• Guyana/Suriname: corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, NIS, withholding tax, property tax, Companies Act filings

and beneficial ownership disclosures; keep every entity current on its tax compliance certificate.

• Offshore and regional: annual returns, registered agent and registered office obligations, economic

substance, FATCA and CRS reporting, and AML/KYC requirements.

• Maintain a single group compliance calendar and entity register, and make sure nothing is missed.

• Coordinate external legal counsel, company secretaries and tax advisers; manage corporate records,

board minutes, resolutions and statutory registers.

• Monitor changes in tax law and regulation, and advise leadership on structuring and compliance

implications.

4. Treasury, controls and operations

• Manage banking relationships, cash, payments and multi-currency (GYD and USD) treasury across the

group, with strong segregation of duties.

• Select and implement the accounting systems, reporting tools and processes the platform will scale on.

• Oversee office operations, insurance, vendor contracts and administrative policies for the management

company.

• Prepare finance materials for the Board and Investment Committee.

• Hire, develop and lead the finance and operations team as the platform grows.

What you bring

• CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent, in good standing. ICAG member or eligible for admission.

• Six to ten years post-qualification experience, including at least three years owning a full set of books as

financial controller, finance manager or audit manager.

• Strong IFRS, including multi-entity reporting and consolidation.

• Working knowledge of Guyanese corporation tax, VAT, PAYE, NIS, withholding tax and Companies Act

filings.

• Has led the company side of an external audit.

• Experience managing outside providers (administrators, auditors, tax advisers, lawyers) and holding them

to a high standard.

• Strong Excel and accounting systems capability.

• Based in Georgetown full time. Entitled to work in Guyana, or eligible for a work permit the company will

sponsor.

Strongly preferred: Compliance across more than one jurisdiction, including offshore vehicles; real estate or

construction accounting with project cost control; Big Four training; multi-currency and multi-entity work.

Who you are

• A builder. You are energised by setting things up properly the first time, not just keeping them running.

• Hands-on. You will prepare the reconciliation yourself when needed, and you know how to lead a team

that does. You have the ability to work in start up/unstructured environment and are willing to roll up

your sleeves to get the job done.

• Uncompromising on integrity and discretion. Investors, partners and regulators will rely on your numbers.

• Calm and organised with many moving parts, entities, deadlines and counterparties at once.

• Team player with ability to train and mentor less experienced members of staff.

• Collaborative style

• Commercially minded. You understand that good finance helps the business make better decisions, not

just close the month.

Why Rise Guyana

• A senior seat at the centre of Guyana’s growth story, working directly with the fund’s leadership.

• Exposure to the full investment cycle: new deals, portfolio value creation, fund operations and investor

relations.

• The chance to build a finance function from the ground up to international institutional standards.

• Room to grow with the platform as it scales.

• Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
